ACT & SAT Information
Preparing for College
1. Take the ACT or the SAT test, most colleges and universities accept both but check with the schools your student is interested in attending. A great time to take one of the college entry tests is after completing Algebra 2 in high school. Your student can then retake the test if they want to improve their score. Many times that first ACT/SAT test is a "wake-up call" for many students. There are many review courses in the area, taking a review course the week before the ACT/SAT will help maximize your students scores. Information about a local course can be found at www.BedfordACTPrep.com.
2. At the end of your students Junior year visit prospective colleges and universities. Information on GPA and ACT/SAT scores needed to be accepted along with cost can be found on most college/university websites. Another good college information website is www.collegeapps.about.com.
3. Apply to most colleges and universities in the Fall of your student's senior year. After applying many schools offer 4 year renewable scholarships for incoming Freshmen. Here is a grid of the University of Toledo's Scholarship Qualifications: Scholarship Grid UT
4. Apply for local scholarships on Bedford's High School Website.
